Pine Framing
The main species are Radiata
Pine, Slash pine and Hoop Pine. Radiata is produced in the southern states
of Australia with some volume imported also from New Zealand while Slash
Pine and Hoop Pine (Arakaria) are milled in Queensland.
All pine framing products are
available treated or untreated. For treated pine, the process used is
L.O.S.P. (light organic solvent preservative) and treatment can be to either
of two levels.
- H2 is a treatment level which provides an
immunity to termites.
- H3 is a higher level of treatment which as
well as protecting against termite attack, provides increased durability to
allow pine to be used externally in weather exposed above ground
applications.
